I know that Kentucky has received some of the funds and I don’t believe that we have been good stewards of those funds.  Lets use some common sense in our spending.  Yes, Kentucky has lowered it’s spending but again not enough to cover our expenses.  We must lower our expenses.

A  Dog’s Purpose?
(from a  6-year-old).

Being a veterinarian, I had  been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish  Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron,  his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were  all very attached to Belker, and they were  hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker  and found he was dying of cancer. I told the  family we couldn’t do anything for Belker, and  offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for  the old dog in their home.

As we made  arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought  it would be good for six-year-old Shane to  observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane  might learn something from the  experience.

The next day, I felt the  familiar catch in my throat as Belker ‘s family  surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting  the old dog for the last time, that I wondered  if he understood what was going on. Within a few  minutes, Belker slipped peacefully  away.

The little boy seemed to accept  Belker’s transition without any difficulty or  confusion. We sat together for a while after  Belker’s Death, wondering aloud about the sad  fact that animal lives are shorter than human  lives.
Shane, who had been listening quietly,  piped up, ”I know why.”

Startled, we  all turned to him. What came out of his mouth  next stunned me. I’d never heard a more  comforting explanation. It has changed the way I  try and live.

He said,”People are born  so that they can learn how to live a good life  — like loving everybody all the time and being  nice, right?” The Six-year-old  continued, 

”Well,  dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t  have to stay as long.”

Live  simply.

Love generously.

Care  deeply.

Speak kindly.

Remember, if  a dog was the teacher you would learn things  like:

When loved ones come home, always  run to greet them.

Never pass up the  opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow  the experience of fresh air and the wind in your  face to be pure Ecstasy.

Take  naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run,  romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention  and let people touch you.

Avoid biting  when a simple growl will do.

On warm  days, stop to lie on your back on the  grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water  and lie under a shady tree.

When you’re  happy, dance around and wag your entire  body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long  walk.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to  be something you’re not.

If what you want  lies buried, dig until you find it.

When  someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit  close by, and nuzzle them  gently.

There  comes a time in life, when you walk away from  all the drama
and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who
make you  laugh, forget the bad, and focus on the good.  So, love
the people who treat you right.  Think good thoughts for the ones
who don’t.  Life is too short to be anything but happy.  Falling down
is part of LIFE…Getting back  up is  LIVING…

So the move took a lot of time from one host to the other but then we hit my busy season at work and that took all my free time.

No!! I don’t trust the government.  I think we should go back to a gold standard.  The “US Dollar” should have a value in gold.  Then you can’t just print more “Dollars” when you need more.  You have to have the gold to back it up.  Until this happens I will continue to invest in gold and silver.

I have decided that I am going to quite blaming people.  If anything it is my fault.  Yes, the problems that our government is in is truly my fault.  Why?  I haven’t stopped it personaly.  In the last 5 years or so my wife and I have started to do things to save money.  Little things.  We try to not eat out as much.  Buy in Bulk.  Try to find ways to cut out middle men and if we have to pay a middle man make it local.  People always want examples.  1st, find a local cow farmer.  Talk to them, find out what they would want to purchase 1/2 a cow.  They know where to have it slaughtered and processed.  My sister’s family and I did this just a few weeks ago.  They took 1/2 we took the other.  Yes, delivery required that we have a full sized upright freezer, but the entire 800 lbs of meet cost us a little under $450.00.  Yes, that is just about 50 cents a pound.  Ground Beef and 50 and New York Strips.  This will last us about 6 months (we eat a lot of beef).  Does it make sense?  I would think so.  At the local grocery a NY Strip is well over 5.00 per pound.  Ground Beef is usually about 50 to 75 cents per pound.

What is another example.  Make your own laundry detergent.  Yes, we make 20 gallons (Think liquid detergent) at a time.  Cost, $20.00.  I don’t know how many loads that is, but getting 44 loads out of the 12.00 bottle at the local grocery store makes this well worth the time and money.

You just have to search.  Now I know I am making an effort to save money, something our government hasn’t been doing for years.

I have heard voiced that maybe we are just focusing on the wrong things.  Some friends have said that maybe GOD is trying to get our attention.  I am not sure that isn’t the truth.  In the United States we have turned our attention to the quick fix not the long term.

Even in our economic problems we want the quick fix.  How do we solve the debt problem today.  It takes months, or even years to truly make a habit change in ourselves.  Why would the government be any different.  You want to solve the debt problem.  The solution is simple; just following it is difficult.  Simple Solution.  Spend less than you take in (in all ways).  If we only take in 100.00 then you can’t spend more than that, even if the payment isn’t due for years, you can’t send it.  Do that and slowly the debt will go away.  Now, can our legislature do that?  Maybe GOD needs to do something directly to their buildings to get there attention.
